A patient who has since been diagnosed with COVID-19 attended the recent BYU-Gonzaga basketball game. The patient felt only mild symptoms and the Utah Department of Health currently believes the risk to others who attended the game is very low.
The Utah Department of Health, Davis County Health Department, and the COVID-19 Community Task Force confirmed the first known case of COVID-19 in Utah. The patient is believed to have been exposed to COVID-19 while on a recent cruise aboard the Grand Princess cruise ship.
“Our number one focus is preparing for the arrival of novel coronavirus,” Gov. Gary R. Herbert said. “Issuing this declaration now allows us to take additional proactive steps that will make a big difference in how effectively we can respond.”
